National Center for Electron Microscopy (NCEM), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

The National Center for Electron Microscopy is a world-class materials characterization facility “up the hill” at LBNL. Home to state-of-the-art instruments, friendly staff scientists, and a beautiful sunset view (assuming you finish your microscope session in time), NCEM is a wonderful place to work!

Hearst Memorial Mining Building

Opened in 1907, Hearst Memorial Mining Building is one of the oldest buildings on campus, and is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. Originally intended for the training of future miners, today, HMMB is home to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. This is where Scott Group performs most of their synthesis, and many other types of sample prep work.
